Andy Kim is once again hosting his favorite musical friends in December to perform as part of his Andy Kim Christmas Show to support Toronto’s Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH)’s Gifts of Light, which provides Christmas gifts to the hospital’s patients with mental illness and addiction problems.

The "Rock Me Gently" singer will bring his signature fundraising event to Toronto's Queen Elizabeth Theatre on Dec. 4, with Tracey Ullman, Ron Sexsmith, Sloan, Bif Naked, Men Without Hats, Crash Test Dummies, Jane Siberry, Lorraine Segato of The Parachute Club, Jake Clemons and Jessica Mitchell with Tim Hicks.

"It is with heartfelt thanks, that after all these years, we continue to unite as a musical community. To donate our time to help those who are in need is one of our greatest gifts as musicians," Kim said in a statement.

Known for co-writing the Archies' cartoon band 1969 hit song 'Sugar Sugar, Kim is a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. This year marks his 15th annual Andy Kim Christmas show.

Tickets, which sell out fast,  range from $60 to $275 available on Ticketmaster.

CAMH is Canada’s largest mental health and addiction hospital, and a leading psychiatric research centre. Gifts of Light, founded in 2008, is a program offering a host of Christmas gifts, some suggested on the CAMH website, to the hospital patients, some of whom have only been in care for days, or in the case of others for some years.

CAMH has no on-site gift shop, like other hospitals. Gifts — from winter woolies and pyjamas for the comfort and slippers to pet therapy and dental check-up — can be purchased on the web site and will be distributed to the patients around the holiday season. There's also dental check-ups and art or music healing classes for mental health patients to help improve their health, and a host of classroom learning opportunities to improve their life prospects after a hospital stay.

Some CAMH patients arrive at the hospital with little more than the clothes they are wearing, and may not have a home to return to, or friends and family to fall back on for support.

Donors need only go onto the website to select a gift and CAMH, working in partnership with patients, their families and front-line staff, will deliver it to one of their patients.

Popular gifts include a $34 emergency kit and a $100 milestone gift to help a patient celebrate their mental health recovery.

Kim is also staging another Christmas concert Dec. 21 at The Burlington Performing Arts Centre co-hosted with comedian Sean Cullen. That event will include performances by Sexsmith, Bif Naked, Tom Cochrane and Sarah Slean. Proceeds will go to BPAC’s Golden Ticket program, which provides complementary access to professional entertainment and artistic workshops to underserved schools and students.
