Nine WE Day 2017 Dates Announced, Including Toronto, New York, Vancouver

The WE Charity has announced nine dates for its upcoming WE Day Fall 2017 tour. These annual WE Day events are a powerful tool for inspiring and activating young people to do good things. This year, the charity expects to bring together more than 200,000 young people in 14 events across Canada, the U.S. and the U.K. Locations for this fall's events include New York, Vancouver, Ottawa and Toronto.
Each WE Day event features a number of high-profile entertainers and speakers. Last year's WE Day Toronto event, for example, featured an unannounced appearance by The Tragically Hip's Gord Downie, YouTube star Lilly Singh, singer Nelly Furtado, astronaut Chris Hadfield and many more. The Toronto event was also used by American rapper Macklemore to launch a frank discussion about the current opioid crisis taking place in North America.
Started as Free The Children in 1995 by child's rights advocate Craig Kielburger, and rebranding in late 2016 as WE Charity, it focuses on empowering young people to improve their world for the better. One of the key attributes of the organization's marquee WE Day events is that you can't buy a ticket to get into one. The only way young people can get into a WE Day is to commit to helping out — collecting food for a food bank, raising money for a charity or volunteering for a cause — in both a local and a global-looking capacity.
