Country musician Gord Bamford may have just scored a charitable hole-in-one as his 8th Annual Gord Bamford Charity Golf Classic raised an astounding $508,350 on Aug. 12-13.
Bamford, a 19-time CCMA winner and multi Juno Award nominee, has a long history of charity work, but this year's haul represents a fundraising record for his golf tournament. The funds raised, which get distributed by The Gord Bamford Charitable Foundation, will go towards KidSport Alberta, an organization that tries to make sure all children can participate in organized sport, Ronald McDonald Charities Central Alberta, who help house out-of-town families when they need to travel for children's medical care, the music education-supporting MusiCounts as well as a number of other youth-centred charities and children's hospitals.
The event featured golfing at Bamford's hometown course Lacombe Golf and Country Club as well as an evening gala celebration at the Sheraton Hotel in Red Deer, AB where country musicians like Marty Stuart and His Fabulous Superlatives, Beverley Mahood, Jess Moskaluke and Bamford all performed. Former Stanley Cup winning hockey players Theo Fleury and Marty McSorley, current Washington Capitals' player Curtis Glencross, and two-time women's hockey Olympic gold medalist Shannon Szabados also attended the events.
"Central Alberta is a spectacular place to bring together a group of supporters to really celebrate the work that these great charities do," said Bamford in a press release. "The organizations we support change the lives of people in their communities, and for that reason, we'll continue to build on the success of the event so the Gord Bamford Foundation can continue to give. I'm absolutely honoured and grateful to everyone involved."nike mens air prestige iii 3 low grade gold coins
