A fully volunteer-run organization has launched a “Million Dollar Mission” via GoFundMe to build a new permanent home for the Iqaluit Humane Society (IHS), Nunavut's only animal shelter. World Wildlife Fund Canada is offering people a chance to symbolically adopt an animal in exchange for a plush toy of it, in order to support the protection, management and restoration of the environment. The Ontario SPCA and Humane Society has sought to reassure pet owners to not surrender or abandon their pets as there's no scientific evidence cats and dogs and other companion animals can be infected with the coronavirus, or transmit the new virus strain.
